The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced on February 10 that it would only accept new forms starting February 22, 2017. It means that all applicants using old forms would only be entertained until February 21. The US government also encouraged the public to start using the new form versions that have been made available online last month.

"On Dec. 23, 2016, our new fees took effect, and we published updated versions of our forms. We strongly encourage customers to go to uscis.gov/forms to download and submit these new versions, which are updated with the new fees and have an edition date of 12/23/16," the USCIS said in astatement.

The government has provided a complete list of the new fees on its website. It also advised to include the correct amount when completing an application form for the government as failing to do so would mean rejection. All rejected filings will be returned to the applicants.

The updated forms can be downloaded here for free. Paper copies can also be requested through the government’s forms request line (800-870-3676) or through its forms by mail service.

An $85 services fee payable at the time of filing is required for benefit requests that necessitate biometrics. The government will reject all applications with unpaid services fee.

The USCIS also warned the public of immigration services scams, which can be avoided by seeking authorized legal help or by logging onto this pagebefore filling out any document or paying any transaction fee.
